Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month

Cancer in fire fighters is a big problem. This is because they are exposed to dangerous chemicals that can cause cancer. These substances are found in smoke, gasoline fumes, and other toxins. Protective equipment they wear may also have long lasting chemicals, absorbed by skin, and working at night may increase the risk for cancer.

Good practices to help prevent it include cancer screening tests, not smoking, maintaining healthy weight, regular physical activity, and a healthy diet. Thankfully, efforts are being made to help firefighter lives. Remember to show love and appreciation to first responders who work hard to keep us safe.
